Belly Wrap Holster & Full Size Service Pistol

I came across a belly wrap holster online and am considering to buy it.

My question is that will the belly wrap holster be tight enough to keep the heavy steel-frame full size handgun in place? or the whole "shrimp-wrap" holster will wiggle around or even slip down when in motion (i.e. running)?

Do you have one? and how do you like them?

I need your insight on this!

I have one while it does support my full size .40, Its not real confortable. It really needs to be worn over a t-shirt. That means wearing 2 shirts one under and one over, not real practical here in Florida. I also found it to be real unconfortable while sitting in my truck.
It now lives in the bottom drawer with other holsters I thought would work out well and didn't!

i use one thats like a belly wrap for my colt 380 for deep concealment below the belt i live in fl also do not need to put on a shirt :p

I used one to frequently carry a full sized M9 Beretta (92FS) in Bosnia. Worked pretty well (with an additional magazine and a Surefire 6Z carried in opposite-side belly-band pockets). Not my favorite carry mode, but useful.

I never felt confident about having to get athletic (grapple, sprint, climb obstacles, etc.).

The concealment profile is good; retention is problematic; comfort (with a large pistol) is adequate, but not great. You will definitely know the pistol's muzzle or butt are there...everytime you sit, bend, or lean.

I still have the holster, but haven't used it in years. I prefer more conventional holsters.

I think that a belly band comes into its own for carry of smaller weapons (e.g., PPK/S, KelTec, Kahr, Rohrbaugh, S&W J-Frame, etc.).

I have one made by Desantis, and I used to use it quite a bit in the cold weather, especially under sweaters. As was said, it is best to wear it over a tee shirt. The sewn edges of the velcro fastening can be quite rough on bare skin. I wore mine high with my HKUSPC, quite a large weapon, under my left arm, crossdraw, and nobody ever knew I was carrying. I found it among the most comfortable ways to carry, even though I rarely use it now. Main reason for the lack of use now is the slowness of draw, but it can be a delightfully easy way to carry in the right circumstances.

i've used a couple guns with a belly band, like others said don't put it on your bare skin. i've carried fullsize 1911's and cz in it and worked well especially the cross draw under a sweatshirt like the other poster mentioned. The weight seemed alittle much for the holster. I also carried an xd 4" in it 1 time just walking would push it out of the holster, i'd have to adjust every 30 mins due to the short barrel length.

its kind of a catch 22 the longer barrel help equal out the gun in the holster, but usually the weight is too comfortable for doing anything athletic, running is out for sure. I gave up on it before i've really tried using it with anything smaller but i have the feeling i'd run into the same problem with the xd.

also get 1 size smaller than you think you need, having the extra tension helps the sliding and flopping around of the gun

I've been playing with rotating my Smartcarry to about 3-4 O'clock position about beltine level, just so I can tuck my shirt in my pants. This position rather than the over the pecker mode. Seems fairly comfortable at least in the house. Smith M&P compact 40 within.

the over the pecker mode

Sorry, but even if the situation called for a quick grab of a 1911 for "Mexican carry" it seems it was quickly yanked in favor of SOB. I've simply never been able to consciously put and leave it there.:o
