Before firing my new Sig?

I think I am finally going to get to actually shoot my Sig 229 tomorrow. What needs to be oiled prior to shooting it? I am kind of new to the gun hobby so be clear in your answer please.
Thanks

Lightsped,

I always clean and lubricate all new purchases before firing.

As to the details of cleaning and lubing before shooting, just follow the instructions under the Cleaning section in the owner's manual. The pistol will have been test-fired at the factory, and field stripping and cleaning before your first trip to the range will give you a better idea as to how the pistol is put together, how it functions, and where it will accumulate grunge. I also cleaned and lightly lubed the moving parts under the grips on my Sigs before first use becasue there was some thick, semi-sticky packing grease in there.

Dissasemble the gun as the manual shows. I dont think you need to use solvent before you go to the range, I would take a old t-shirt and wipe all the surfaces dry, then run a drop of oil down each slide rail, put a drop of oil on your finger and wipe it around the outside of the barrel, and I usually put a drop on the inside top of the slide, where the barrel rubs against the slide when the slide is racked. once you put some rounds thru it at the range, you'll need to clean the entire gun with a good solvent, and relube with a THIN coat of gun oil over the entire gun. I like break-free CLP for mine.
