Before buying Charter Arms--Read this!!!!

dick,
That rifle started out as the Raptor.
A rich guy started his own rifle company.
I think the stainless was called the Condor.
(Yes, he was into falconry.)

The company was sold to Charter Arms a couple of years ago.
I had a Raptor.
The bolt had play in it, but a review that I had read said that was ok.
Mine was a .270.
I put about three boxes of ammo through it with no problems.
Accuracy was ok, nothing to brag about.
I finally traded it when I got tired of people asking what kind of rifle I had, then when I told them, they always said "Raptor. What's that?".
My next bolt action will be from an established company.

Since you ordered it from a friend, maybe he will give you decent trade-in.
Sorry you got shafted.
Sounds like the kind of thing that normally happens to me.:(

I wouldn't buy another Charter Arms. I had one of their AR-7's for a while. It was absolute junk. It was so roughly machined, it wouldn't even function.
My experience with their "service" dept was about the same as yours.
I sold it to a machinist as junk.

Actually the guy that ordered the rifle for me offered to give me my money back and try to sell it in the store since he couldn't return to his distributor--but no way in hell am i going to ask someone to special order something for me and then me stick him with it. It's my problem not his...........Dick
