bedding with leather

On rimfirecentral there is a post (Am I Crazy) under CZ/Bruno talking of bedding with leather,I found it interesting.Has anyone tried it with high powered rifles. Check out the post and let me know what you think.

Yes it is fairly common practice.

They also use inner tube squares under 10-22 barrels.

Bedding with thin layers of leather or canvas under the receiver goes way back. It was used during WW1, so when I say it goes way back, it goes waaaaaay back.
