Bead Blast vs. Fluting

I've read somewhere that a glass bead blasted barrel will cool faster than a fluted barrel. It seems the thousands of tiny dimples left by the beads lose heat faster than flutes.

I want to apply a heavy bead blast to a stainless Winchester rifle. Would this be redundant? I'd like it to be matte grey instead of silver as well as have the factory barrel cool faster...

Has anyone else heard of this? Any scientific type studies, links, insight, or thoughts would be appreciated.

I haven't heard that about bead blasted barrels.

I don't think I believe it either, comparing them to fluted barrels heat loss.

Getting the blasting for a matte finish is a good idea, though. I myself would add paint or some kind of coating to cover it up afterward. YMMV.
