Be Prepared ... hmmm.

Prez today at New Haven US Coast Guard Academy graduation seems to cite BGs in all directions. The message I get is we must be prepared to fend off all this "aggression".

My question:
Just how the h..l do we do this without the firearms he is working to take away from us????????

Washington Post/Associated Press story:

h..p://wire.ap.org/?SLUG=CLINTON

I guess "SLUG" is newspaperman's lingo for "story" - everything after the "?" sounds about right to me.

Hi andyb. I think slug was a blank piece of type, back when there were typesetters, that indicated a space.

However the SLUG=CLINTON line sounds good to me. Except I don't like to equate slugs to Clinton, at least slugs may have some good points.

Oops, I forgot my signature . :(

Thanks Jim V for the right info ... I was guessin'.

Maybe you're right, why lower the little slug to that position - he comes out at night, does his thing, and generally gets out of the way (most times) by light. This other subject seems to do what it wants, when it wants, and is always in your (my) face one way t'other.

Thanks again.

no no no...
the slug line is like a working title, if I'm writing a story about a fire the slug is going to be "fire." It goes at the top of your copy so the editors can quickly find stories before they go into editing or layout.
Don't ask me why we call it that.

Hey Tack - No sweat - the Senior member says it all. Forgiven/forgotten (that word doesn't look right, where's the spell checker, they've got everything else :) )

Thanks for the info.
