BCM EAG Upper w/ Battlecomp Review

Let me begin by saying- I REGRET NOTHING. I've gone through a couple of other (lesser?) brands, and have had problems with each with the exception of the Bushmaster, which I still own. The DPMS was clearly flawed, with feedramps on the barrel extension that looked like they had been chewed up by a wolverine. That one is still at the DPMS mothership for repairs (going on two weeks now. We'll see how long the turnaround is). Anyways, back to the goodness...

Shipping and customer service were excellent. I ordered the upper from BCM's website on a Sunday evening, and it arrived on Wednesday. It arrived with many unexpected extras, including a nice BCM hat, posters, and two very informative training DVD's.

Fit and finish is excellent, period. I actually ordered the Battlecomp on a whim, as when I went to place the order, they were out of the extended A2 flash hiders (of course they had more in on Monday...). Everyone knows that they make a damn good BCG, and mine is no exception.
The EAG comes stock with a 9" LaRue quad rail, 14.5 inch cold hammer forged barrel, BCG, Gunfighter Mod3 charging handle, Tango Down rail guards, and Troy back up irons that sport the BCM logo. The backup sights came with a slight scrape on one corner, but it's certainly nothing worth sending anything back over. One nice touch I found, was that the feedramps were perfectly polished, while leaving the rest of the barrel extension treated and untouched. The permanently attached Battlecomp was expertly pinned/welded as well.

It shoots like a dream. With the Battlecomp, in combination with the middy gas system, recoil and muzzle rise are simply non issues. Granted, all AR's are known for their lack of recoil, but this takes things to a whole new level. I ran one mag through while re-zeroing my gear (which proved to be unnecessary), let it cool down a bit, and then ran another 120 rounds or so. Not a single malfunction. Accuracy was excellent as well, which was a concern going in for me, as I hadn't had any first hand experience with the Battlecomp. Was able to squeeze out 1.5 inch groups with a Bushnell Trophy red dot. I have no doubt that the groups will close up once I pick up a quality magnified optic.

About the Battlecomp- 'Tis the cat's meow, the bee's knees. It does it's job damn well, without all the extra percussion of many other brakes/comps. The noise level was SLIGHTLY higher, but nothing that would lead me to call it a negative. I was really hesitant to take a chance on a permanently attached device, but it turned out to be a damn fine decision. I would recommend the Battlecomp to anyone with an AR. Anyone who would fault it for the few decibels it does add, should take note that any .223/5.56 AR is going to be painful to shoot without proper hearing protection or a surpressor, and potentially deafening if shot indoors. So there.

In closing- I strongly feel that this was one of the best large purchases I have made in a very long time. I would recommend BCM to anyone, and for those looking for an all purpose, compact carbine, the EAG model in particular. The extras it comes with really do add up to a great deal.

Photos soon to follow.

Congrats man, i love BCM as well. First AR i bought and probably will never change until i'm in the market for an 7.62 AR, which in that case i'm honestly hoping they make a BCM-10.

Can't say i don't love mine. I also recommend BCM to everyone. They're hard to beat for the price, i enjoy doing business with good people, and they're reputation is top of the line. Wish i would've gone with the BC on my 14.5" at the time i really liked the fact the PWS SM556 was compatible with the KAC NT4, so i went with it. If i had it to do over again i would go battlecomp though.
