BB Guns in Baltimore City

Can anyone help me to find out what the laws/ordinances are in Baltimore city, MD on discharging BB guns in your own backyard, private property? I can't find anything online, and called the police here and they didn't even know. I just want to target shoot and get rid of some rats but would prefer not getting in trouble for it. Thanks!

A couple of months ago I found on the web (cannot find the link now) that they are illegal to discharge in the so-called urban area (or something like it) of Baltimore county. I think it is the area adjacent to Baltimore City. I suspect (and heard but never read it anywhere) that they are also illegal to discharge in the City. That said, when I was living in Balto City I had a BB range in the basement. The basement was underground and nobody would hear a thing. I suspect that Baltimore City cops have other worries than a BB gun...

Last time I talked to a LEO bout it he said that any PROJECTILE discharge within city limits is illegal, BB guns included. He also mentioned that rubberband guns and water guns also count as a projectile discharge and is illegal also...

Talk bout idioticaly phrased laws concieved by idiotic politicans. Sometimes I truely understand how anarchists feel.

Ask at the reference desk of your public library

There will be public access libraries with copies of the state, county and municipal codes available to you - these may include courthouse or justice center libraries as well as public university and law school libraries. Legal aid or clinical studies programs at local law schools may be willing to give you an honest answer. You may get a better answer from prosecutors who are lawyers than from police officers who aren't. You might also join the NRA or better your state association if you aren't a member and ask for statutory references. MD has been through a lot of legislation in recent years and has had strong state groups.

Notice also that a BB gun might well be legal and still attract too much attention - also a true Daisy style BB gun with steel shot won't be terribly effective or accurate - you might prefer a precision air rifle - or a wrist rocket.
