Howdy. I have a German Bayonet that may great grandfather bought back from WWII. It is complete with scabbard. Bought are numbered 2392 at the top of the blade/scabbard below the hilt with what looks like the pi (π) underneath that. On the otherside the bayonet is marked E.u.F. Hörster and the scabbard is marked same with 1940 underneath.
Can anyone give me an idea on value etc. I would never sell it but would love to know.

You might have to check with the specialist bayonet collectors sites to see if the particular markings of the maker are more desireable than others, but in general the German bayonets are going up in value these days. If you want value, you might see what some of the ebay examples are bid up to. Also condition affects value. Like amount of original finish, any damages, rust or over grinding of the blade to sharpen it, etc. Bet it might be worth 75$ and up nowadays.
