bayonet

All AR bayos.

Skip the M9. Try the Marine's OKC S3 or the Army's Tanto version of it, or, the new M10 -- actually sharpenable 1095 carbon steel, so a better knife, than the M9 which is kinda misleading as a blade...

OK, Marine S3 and Army Combat bayonets have almost a guard's-width longer handle than the M9/M10 -- up to 1/8".

That could make more of a difference on a 590 A1 certainly than an M-16/AR-15.

So, go with an M9 if u r OK with a pointy stainless prybar or an M10 if you prefer a bowie-knife bayonet...

My M-9 OKC fits my 590A1 with the lug.
My OKC 3S does not fit because there is about a one-eight or three-sixteenths difference in length in where and how it secures to the gun.
Apart from that, just comparing the two in hand, I'd prefer the M-9 with the Bianchi military holster and wire cutter scabbard. It's a thick hardy blade with much gadgetry going on.
The other has a longer blade that can be sharpened pretty well, but I like the robustness and the saw cut better on the M-9.
If you like to entertain yourself with oil stones, the S3 give you more pleasure just like one of the other guys posted.
I happen to use the M-9 around the house, in the garage and in the shop. I take it hunting. The OKC S3 is pretty cool but sits in the drawer a lot.
I never looked into it, but I would expect a longer cap screw or cap nut or whatever they call it would be available and then the S3 might fit.

The M7 will also fit

My M-6 can't possibly fit. Someday I need to get the M-7. Been looking here and there once in a while. Nice to know that it fits. More interest now in getting one. I also wish I could post pictures as nice as the M-7 picture in the previous post.
