I am going to purchase a kit for an HK91/G3. Can anyone tell me the 10 parts that need to be made in the USA to make it BATF compliant? I know that I will be getting a US receiver and barrel. I will also be getting US made furniture that consists of the forearm, buttstock, grip, and buttstock pad.

I know that the mag floor plate, follower, hammer, operating rod, sear, barrel and receiver are all parts that count towards compliance.

So far, I am sure of 7 parts that I will be getting, make it legal. I need to know at least 3 more parts. Please Help!!!

10 of these parts need to be US:

(1) Frames, receivers, receiver castings, forging or stampings
(2) Barrels
(3) Barrel extensions not on G3
(4) Mounting blocks (turnings)
(5) Muzzle attachments
(6) Bolts
(7) Bolt carriers
(8) Operating rods not on HK, but BATF calls charging handle such
(9) Gas pistons not on G3
(10) Trigger housings
(11) Triggers
(12) Hammers
(13) Sears
(14) Disconnectors not on G3
(15) Buttstocks
(16) Pistol grips
(17) Forearms, handguards
(18) Magazine bodies
(19) (Magazine) Followers
(20) (Magazine) Floorplates

That puts you at about 17 imported parts. Most replace the hammer, sear, muzzle device, and pistol grip as a matter of fact.

Three more to go.

You say you're going with a US barrel and receiver? Two more marked off.

One more to go.

The cheapest way to go is with US made floorplates for all of your mags, assuming you don't have a ton.

If you're also going with US furniture, which I'd avoid for the most part, then you'll be fine.

Hmm...it seems to me that if you bought a factory American magazine with all American parts, you would be taking care of 30% of the battle. The problem gets to be that if you use magazine parts as part of your ten, what happens when you get a good deal on some imported mags? But then again...do they really check?
