Basque .380

Hi,

Does anyone have any information about a PPK copy that went by the trade name of BASQUE?

These were on the market in the United Kingdom in the very early 1980's and were very inexpensive, retailing for about £55 as far as I remember, although it was a long time ago.

I'd be interested in finding out who made them and if they are still available under another trade name.

I don't remember much else about it, except that it was great fun to shoot, but not ...exactly of the highest quality!

Presumably it was Spanish, but I can't really remember. Any ideas??

Many thanks

TS.

I don't believe they were ever imported. You can get an even lousier copy called a makarov for just a little over 150$(US).

...I wouldn't actually want another Basque! Ours was dangerous: it went off by itself once. Just interested to see if I could find out any more about their manufacture and history on the web.

Thanks,

TS.

For the record, the Makarov is not a PPK copy. There exist a wide range of mechanical and functional differences, especially in the trigger mechanisms. If anything, the Makarov is somewhat derived from the Mauser HSC.

How many Makarovs have you owned? And of these how many jammed, failed to feed or otherwise fail to function as they're supposed to do?
