barrell extension

I have a shotgun in which the barrel was cut-off a few inches short. I was curious as to whether there are barrel extensions or something such as the old polychokes that could be added to get the gun back within legal limits.
 
will a polychoke contribute to barrel length in the legal sense? I've heard that a fixed flash hider and similar works for rifles, but that it's not the same for shotguns...just axin'...
 
The extention will have to be permanently attached to the barrel to be legal. I would suggest getting the shotgun rebarreled if possible.
