When you have the screws in the barrel where they took the iron site off, can you remove them and fill the holes with something instead? Soder doesn't sound like a good idea because of the heat, so is there anything else out there? Thank you.
Obvious choice is the filler screws mentioned already. That way you can put the sights back on if selling the gun etc. Whatever else you put in there to close up the holes might show as a different color and stand out. Silver solder doesn't generate that much heat but welding surely would.
Fill 'em full of plastic steel then smooth them to flush with the barrel contour. Then color them with a permanent marker to match the blued steel. Or if it's a stainless barrel, just polish 'em with very fine steel wool.
When you remove the cap screws on the receiver to mount the scope save them. They can be used to fill in the holes left when you remove the iron sights.
Thank you for all of your replies I really appreciate it. I gues I should have been more specific. I want to remove the filler screws and fill with a material that can then be sanded down flat, and un-noticable after cera kote is applied.
