Barrel life of G17?

How long would the barrel life be for a 9mm Glock 17 if you used normal power fmj ammo?

What I mean by life if is the lifespan of reasonable accuracy.

I ask because the funky polygon rifleing and the reported long like of these guns.

So there it is. How long will the barrel last?

A long, long time!

(That's my way of saying "I'm really not sure".) :D

I would imagine that 25K rounds or so would be in the ballpark, though. Hope someone who knows better will chime in, 'cause I own a couple of Glocks and would like to know myself!

The gun Ruben is referring to actually fired 367,000 rounds through the original barrel, frame and slide. Some minor parts were replaced along the way - mostly springs. This is according to the factory rep at my Glock Armorer's School.

In answer to the original question - I don't think a number has been arrived at yet.

Really forever if you use quality FMJ. At least forever defined as the number of rounds you will ever be able to shoot through it. The G17 defines longevity in a handgun.
