Barksdale?

Hi all.
I picked up a S&W model 10-5 this week and have a few questions on it maybe someone can answer.
It is a 6" blued gun with a bomar rib on it and it has a bull barrel on it with the word "BARKSDALE" on the barrel. The action on the gun is incredible.
Anyone have a rough date on this and was Barksdale a smith or the barrel brand?
I know it's a PPC setup.
Thanks!
:)

There was a Mr Barksdale with a gunsmithing shop in Center Point, Alabama (suburb of Birmingham by now.) I forget his first name.

He ran a first class general custom gunsmithing shop. He did build nice smooth PPC revolvers and fitted some rifle barrels that I know of.

I never met him in person, but I got the impression that he was pretty well along in years, but still working, when I was shooting PPC in the late 1970s.

The 10-5 was the 1962 engineering change.

Thanks Jim.
I'm wondering if this might be a pistol he worked up.
The action is incredible on this gun. It's hard to describe. Best way to put it is it's like buttered ball bearings.
Probably around a 2.5 pull. I haven't measured it yet. Need a scale. :)
