Bargain, thy name is CZ 75

WOW! You CZ 75 fans have been right all along. I just purchased a new 9mm CZ 75B, polymer finish and 200 rounds of Magtech ball ammo for $400. In this new age of $700 SIG's and unobtainable Hi-Powers, the CZ 75 is a veritable steal. I'd lusted for years, and finally one showed up at my local store. It hadn't been in the display case 10 minutes before I snatched it. I don't mind paying upwards of a thousand bucks for a really excellent pistol (P7 M8 or used SIG P210), but I am genuinely thrilled that bargains such as this still exist. Anyway, thanks for listening. And thanks to all the CZ owners who've kept the torch burning.

Congratulations and welcome to the recently converted club. I bought mine 9mm CZ couple of weeks ago and like it 450 trouble-free, accurate rounds worth so far. The same store has a boxed P210-5. I'm not sure if it is a consignment or not, but they're asking $2850. Worse than that I suppose, a newly delivered stainless Colt 1991A1 was marked $869. And with a smile on my face I'm off to try the 10-round ProMag I just bought for it. If it works I'll try a 15-rd. one for $25. Best. John

has anyone seen pricing on the summer special?

Hello, Vanfunk. Glad you got your CZ and like it. I've had some of these since '84.
Shot the fire out of 'em and still am. No problems whatsoever. Best and good shooting.

Congrats! A few months ago I purchased a CZ 85 Combat. It's a great gun. It's has the lightest recoil of any non-compensated 9mm.

Now if they`ll just start delivery on the CZ-75SA! My local gunshop`s still looking for one for me. Marcus

Re: CZ75s...DITTO! Slightly changing the topic (and a CZ owners thread seems like the right place)...Does anyone have experience with the CZ75BD? Already have CZ75B and CZ85, but wonder how well the decocker on the "D" model works? Is it easy to manipulate, reliable, sturdy, etc. BTW, I am very comfortable with DA/SA actions and like the ability to decock and reholster with one hand. Opinions or experiences with the CZ75BD?

It's me again. Does anyone know of a source for checkered wood grips for the CZ 75? I'd like to spend up to $50, if any are available. Thanks!

Hogue will make them for $49.95 plus shipping. www.getgrip.com/main.html Click on Online Store at the bottom of the page, then Grips from the list on the left and work your way through the selections. WARNING: They e-mailed back that it should take from 6 to 10 weeks for cocobolo. The smooth grips are $15 less. John

I called CZ week before last to ask about prices on parts and mags. Their checkered walnut grip panels are $53 plus shipping IIRC. The walnut grips I saw on an older blue CZ 75B at the local shop were nice enough, but plain. Both styles of plastic gips, flat and thumbrest, are $8.00. The only way to order is to call for prices and shipping charges and send them a check. No internet orders, no charge card phone orders. John

When the virtues of the CZ became clear to us
in Australia,we started buying them--what happened next was that the price went up.A lot.Be warned, they are too good to stay cheap,

Thanks for all the helpful posts. I think I'm going to go with Hogue checkered wood grip panels. It is unfortunate that the grips cannot be "tried on for size" before purchase, although I would of course have the option of returning them if they don't feel right. Anyway, the more I handle the CZ, the more impressed I become. It is not the finest pistol in the battery, but for the money, it's mighty close. The recoil spring seems awfully heavy for an all-steel 9mm, although it was certainly designed for high-pressure ammo. I'll shoot it today- I imagine recoil will be very low. Thanks again!

My CZ75 Military showed up on Friday. I took it out to the range yesterday and put it through the paces.

In short, I was impressed. Accuracy was quite good (cloverleafs off the bench at 25 feet,) although the gun printed notably high and left. Reliability was almost perfect, just one failure to extract over 150 rounds. Trigger pull was good out of the box, although the hammer and sear could use a little judicious polishing. Ditto the slide rails. The gun is easy to handle and points well. Recoil and muzzle flip is fairly mild, proving no obsticle to fast controlled pairs.

I'm in love.

I do have a few questions, though. Is there an extended magazine latch available for the CZ75?? I like to drop the magazine with the middle finger of my strong hand, and I find it hard to do with the stock magazine release. I have to shift my grip.

Also, will the trigger from a EAA Witness fit in the CZ75, or is it a different part?

Later,
Chris
