MARTINSBURG, WV AUGUST 1 - A Martinsburg man who wrestled a robber to the ground at a 7-11 store is now out of work. For what Antonio Feliciano did, most people would call heroic. His corporate bosses said he did wrong.

DURING THE EARLY HOURS OF JULY 14TH, Antonio was working at the 7-11 on Route 9 in Baker Heights when a masked woman came in holding a gun and demanded cash. “I grabbed the gun and pulled it behind her back and ripped it out of her hand and wrestled her to the floor and called police,” he said. It was for that action that the former 7-11 employee was fired.
“I thought right then we were going to die,” he said. “This lady has gone nuts and she’s just going to kill us.”
Corporate 7-11 said he violated company policy of confronting robbers and after reviewing the case, they fired him. “They said we can’t keep you, we’re sorry. Thank you very much. We’ll mail your check,” explained Feliciano.
He thinks the company policy is not in place for his safety. “I think the policy is there more to protect them more than anything else.”
With the expenses of two young daughters, not bringing home this paycheck is making things financially difficult. “We’re not rich, we’re not well off. We live paycheck to paycheck like most people do.”
7-11 issued a statement that said “he intervened inappropriately in the face of an armed robber and not only jeopardized his life, but the other two people in the store. He had signed off that he understood our policy that he was no to resist and the he was not to be a hero.”
“I understand the policy,” said Feliciano. “It’s a good policy, but when they (robbers) don’t leave and you fear for your life, what are you supposed to do? Lay down and die? I couldn’t do that.”
Antonio said he’s now in search for a job that fits his and his wife’s schedule.

JimDiver,
Just another reason not to shop at 7-11.
AM-PM or circle K will get more of my business.

Southland Corp, owner of 7-11, maybe located in Dallas, but they are owned by anti-gun japanese with a japanese CEO. I hope he sues the pants off them for failure to provide a safe work environment, asking him to forfiet his personal right to self-defense, and mental duress. He could probably to well in a WV court, but bring it to a rural Texas court to win a verdict. Hey, LawDog, wanna case????

Can someone with a little time do some research on this guy. Get his phone number and talk to him find out if this is for sure. If so how about we not only mount a letter writing campaign we take up a collection to help this guy till he can find another job. If he lived in my area, I'd hire him!

This is allso on general and this my reply there.Guess employes lives are not considered assets.I worked at a Circle K years ago(Same as 7-11)on graveyards.Had
a drunk try to come behind the counter to try and get me one night.Talked my way out of it but the next night I
was carrying a 38.Totaly against policy but screw them. The wouln't even put in security cameras because they
said it lead to violence.I lasted about 6 weeks and found a job that didn't include being a hired target.
Had a friend that worked at one a couple of years ago.Now he was a ex DOC and stands about 6 ft 4 inches tall at
about 300 lbs.Worked with local police as BG for there practice at handling people.Well 6 bangers jumped him and
beat the crap out of him.I wouldn't sugest anyone work for outfits like that unless they could carry. At least on
graveyard shifts.Ever wonder why they are called graveyard shifts???

Well, the SOUTHLAND CORP. has never been a friend of gunowners. They are/were big donors to such anti-gun terrorists as HCI.

This guy was just interviewed on CNN. He was articulate and forthright. Here's his side:

4AM: A woman walks into the store with a "sawed off rifle"; Woman puts rifle to his head and demands money; As he was just filling in at this store, he looks for the silent alarm next to the register...not installed at this location. He and another employee clear out the cash drawers; woman takes cash and "cocks" the rifle, still at his head. All he can think of is his kids (I'd bet he thought, "I'm going home alive!"). Employee snatches gun from her "in an instant", throws it to coworker, wrestles her to the ground and holds her there until police arrive. 7-11 suspends him for 2 weeks and then fires him. He's gonna sue.

I simply cannot believe this kind of behavior toward an employee. The guy complied with company policies; the robber evidently hadn't read them. He was not a cowboy; he didn't use excessive force that would result in a suit from the robber; he just tried to get home to his kids. They didn't even have the decency to offer provide him with a $20/month silent alarm.

Dear 7-11 corporation:
Bite me.
Respectfully,
Rich Lucibella
