something I heard about a few years back...think it was Jesse Helms idea to tax ammo to 1000%....yesterday on the Fox Newz they spoke that antigun nutz..errr....groups, were now going after the ammunition-buy all the guns you want-just can't get ammo.

My thinking is don't let 'em win...but if they start to-be stockpiled not only on factory ammo but on reloading equip, powder and such. Also having black powder on hand along with materials to make powder and cast bullets annnnnd...a variety of weapons in MILITARY calibres in case.....

It's unlikely - virtually impossible - it was Jesse. You're probably thinking of Daniel Patrick Moynihan... Get a grip...

Eh - that bill is still there; but currently only for 25, 32 and 9mm (the "deadly" calibers that kill people).

Yep, that was from the desk of that good salamander lipped communistnazi mega millionaire elitist, N.Y. Sen. Danny Patty Monyhan.

That's why I said "I think"...because I wasn't sure. I knew someone here would know, so that's why I posted in such a manner.

As far as a grip. Got several for each firearm I own.

Cant stockpile. You will be guilty of having an arsenal and having to pay an arsenal tax on it. Same Communist BS; different day. Actually its Fascist isnt it? Never really got into Poli. Sci that much.

The arsenal crap, the bullet ban/exhorbitant tax on ammo crap, etc., is ALL introduced EVERY year in the Congress. So it is always a potential threat. But it never passes (so far) or even gets out of committee because of the NRA and GOA and us writing letters.

Sen. Jesse Helms??? No way, no how!

Now about banning bullets. That baloon has been out there for decades now. In the past the anti-2's came at ammunition because it is a hazardous product (properly used ammunition will hurt someone, right?) and therefore should be regulated. Hasn't got traction.

The latest argument is along environmental and health lines. Bullets for the most part are made of lead, a really bad actor. We ban it from paint so kids don't eat it. Follow this carefully. . . .hand gunners handle lots of lead in firing guns and obviously do not wash hands properly and the lead gets on the food children eat and they ingest lead. Hey, if we have to ban lead from paint so the kids don't ingest it, then we gotta ban ammunition for the same reason. This line of logic brings in the environment (who knows how much lead the wicked second amendment types callously unleash on the the environment) and everyone's heart-felt desire to protect the children. It's got it all.

Just had a thought! Since supporting the second amendment is clear and unambigious evidence of brain damage, do you suppose this argument will be used to protect us pro-2 types from ourselves????????

:D :D :D :D

The banning bullets is something I saw on Fox News yesterday...going on in Kaliforny, Lost Angeles I b'lieve. Check it out for yourself. May have been brought up over the years but it LOOKS like, at least in smaller areas, it might be pushed thru.

What's considered a 'stockpile'? more than 10 bullets? What about 50? 500? What it I got say....10,000 rounds for each firearm and each firearm is 'stored' in different locations or even different states? Is that stockpiling? :D

How much is considered an "arsenal"? How much is too much?

Yeah, the LA City Council is considering some ban or controls on sale of ammo and reloading components.

Years ago, the Austin, Texas, City Council was going through the same sort of gyrations. A guy stood up to speak, and merely wanted note made of the time. He left, and the speechifying continued.

He returned, with a handgun which was disabled by a padlock through the frame, and a receipt from a gun store in nearby Oak Hill, a separate governmental entity. The City Council decided that all the effort had been a waste of time, and dropped the issue.

LA is one political subdivision among very many in the greater LA Basin. The problem is that idiots don't realize that cars will actually get out of one town and into another where sales restrictions do not exist. Further, if possession is banned, they do not realize--nor care--how many scofflaws are created.

The worst part about bad law, or poor quality enforcement of any law, is that disrespect for ALL law is created by these same lawmakers or enforcers.

Ammo CAN be banned - yeah bullets are easy to make but primers, new brass and ESPECIALLY smokeless powder (very subtle differences between the smokeless powders that we all KNOW have very different properties - even some with the same chemical content).

I like the lead angle. Remember, a bullet made from pretty much anything other than lead is "cop killer armor piercing" - pretty smart, that.

Also, if you think that non-gun people who don't understand why a good guy would want more than 1 gun a month, you think they'll understand you mailordering 1000 rounds of ammo?

I mean, that's pretty "reasonable".

Ammunition cannot be legally banned because it is protected by thw Second ammendment. All militta laws in effect at the time the Constitution w written required all citizens to keep weapons AND ammunition for themin their possesion.
