I'm wondering about the available bullet weights and typical muzzle velocity of the .50AE cartridge. I've not run into any such numbers on sites such as firearmstactical.

This probably belongs in the reloading forum, but I've found this information:

The only person who makes bullets for reloading is Speer. They are a 325g Unicore hollow point. I have no idea what "Unicore" means.

I have these powder charges from Accurate Powder for this bullet:

Accurate #9 - 23.8g - 1247 fps
Accurate #1680 - 37.8 - 1305 fps

There are a few more powders and the resulting velocities listed at: http://www.reloadammo.com/

IMI has a ballistics table for their ammo on their site: http://www.imisammo.co.il/
(click on: Catalog - Ballistics Tables - select .5AE - click OK)

Here's an interesting tidbit from the table:
a .45ACP 230g FMJ bullet has a force of 352 ft/lbs at 25yds. A .50AE 300g FMJ has a force of 1124 ft/lbs. More than three times more, ouch! (They also list mid-range trajectories.)

Hope this helps.

Rich
