I'm looking to get savy on handgun and rifle ballistics. Can those in the know point me to some sources that can get me started with the basics?

CBretJessee,

I would definitely start with a standard reloading manual written by one of the bullet manufacturers: Speer, Sierra , Hornady or Nosler.

Modern External Ballistics - The Launch and Flight Dynamics of Symmetric Projectiles, 1998, Robert L. McCoy, Schiffer Publishing, Ltd., 4880 Lower Valley Road, Atglen, Pennsylvania 19310, $95.00. An outstanding book, but it's very technical and not light reading.

Rifle Accuracy Facts, Harold R. Vaughn, Precision Shooter, Inc., 222 mcKee St., Manchester, Connecticutt 06040, $34.95. An excellent book.
