Ballistic tip VS Hollow point

While I use the ballistic tip bullets 99.9% of the time A-Max & V-Max, I found the most accurate bullet was the Sierra hollow points match bullet.

My understanding (which could be wrong) is that the little hole in the tip of the bullet helps stabilize it in flight and keeps it from yawing. This maybe true or not but that would be my reason for making a hollow point out of a round nose.

Jim243: I have heard the same thing but was having trouble finding confirmation last night via ye'ole interwebs. So i figured I'd ask. I just finished outfitting my reloading assembly line with a Giroud meplat trimmer and a hoover pointing die and the horrifying thought jumped into my head that i was wasting time and should just buy ballistic tipped projectiles.

I second Sierra hollow point match kings, with out doubt the most consistently accurate .30 bullet I've used.

One reason for 'Ballistic Tips', which had been around a long time before they caught on,
Is the laws about hollow points in some states.

Ballistic Tip is not 'Hollow', so they aren't covered under the back door ban on ammunition.
