Ballistic Helmet

If you are looking for ballistic helmets I would suggest RBR, they have a large line and are first rate. The Marines are replacing some of their PASGT helmets with a new design that is lighter and not as bulky but has increased ballistic and impact protection. I don't know where to send you for info on those, sorry.
I'd suggest going to www.lightfighter.com and checking out their forums. They have a number of military people there who would gladly discuss helmets!

I recently purchased a level IIIA RBR helmet for just under $200 and I'm pleased with it, but people in the know are saying that the TC2000 is a quantum leap above anything else out there today. Operators in the know have gone on record saying that this thing has an exceptional level of comfort and protection. I can't speak from first hand experience, but it sure seems top of the line. Heck just look at the pricetag!!!

MICH Helmet
Guys, from personal experience, Force reconnaissance has been using the MICH (commercially TC2000) for about 1.5 years now. Prior to that i worked for another agency that had the precursor to the MICH- diferent suspension system- we used that for 4 years.
The MICH has also been adopted by USSOCOM. The Marine Corps lightweight helmet project, after having had several mil pumped into it, fizzeled when the MICH surpassed it in all tests.
The MICH is lightweight, extremely comfortable, offers enhance ballistic protection, and it floats. It is cert for MFF, HAHO and LLSL.
As the MICH is 11% smaller, you can actually fight while wearing it, unlike the PASGT which covered eyes and ears.
The MICH can be had with a Comm Suite, a Sordin Active ear protector, which has a comm cord for your radio and a bone mike in the top of the pad.
We had looked at the RBR's. We found them to be a weak sister compared to the MICH, which is why SOCCOM and Force went to the MITCH.
Oct 2001 SWAT has an article on the FSBE/ MICH used by Force.
Lightfighter sells the MICH under the commercial name TC2000.
You cannot get a better ballistic helmet at this time.

I really dont like the MICH, if youre using any sort of radio head set it gets really uncomfortable, theres no way to mount anything on it without buying and instaling extras which usually are pretty crudely fastened, and the chin strap is just a joke (always having to be retightened, uncomfortable, etc)...
Ive seen alot of the sf guys using helmets similar to this one which is available in either balistic or non balistic on the site listed (but im sure you could fnd it cheaper elsewhere)
