Baford Arms- Have you heard of them?

I was going through some old receipts the other night, and ran across one for a Baford Arms High power clone in stainless. I bought this pistol on looks alone (beautiful), but when I shot it, it started to self destruct (sights fell off, mag wouldn't release,etc.). I took it back to the dealer and he gave me an excellent trade on a BHP practical, out of guilt I think. I thought about keeping it as a collectable but couldn't afford to then. Does anyone else have one?

Atticus, Bafford Arms was an import company out of Tennesee. I don't know what type of Hi-Power they were importing; but, I have seen FM Argentian Hi-Powers that look very similar to the Bafford Arms-type. The only difference are the sights.

The FM had old Hi-Power military sights as opposed to the more high visibility sights on the one example of a Bafford Arms import Hi-Power I have seen (picture only).

I didn't realize that Baford was just the importer. I don't recall what type of sights it had, but the slide was marked Baford Arms Bristol TN (I think). I don't recall any other markings.

Atticus, I should have clarified. I get really irritated when someone else posts second-hand knowledge or uninformed speculation as fact and I just did the same thing. I apologize.

My statement above is based entirely on speculation. The only Bafford Arms Hi-Power I have ever seen is in a .JPG. So, I can only see one side and even those markings are not clear.

However, I have been able to handle an FM-manufactured Hi-Power that closely resembled the Bafford Arms version right down to the different (alloy) frame color.

I believe Browning U.S. has the rights to the Hi-Power here in the United States and I don't see them relinquishing it to a small Tennesee company. After seeing the FM, my guess was that someone decided to import and maybe modify the FM pistols - but that is just a guess on my part and one without any solid evidence to back it up.
