I talked to Les today and he recommended blued over stainless.Apparently, stainless will gaul and cannot be "fit" as tight as blued. Any opinions on blued over stainless??? i really like the look of stainless but, is the blue more durable.
Sorry 45acp, but you can't have your cake and eat it too. Stainless is more durable but blue is more reliable due to, as you correctly pointed out, the fact that it will not gaul. For home & personal defense, I like stainless but when I use to carry a weapon as part of the job, I made sure that it was blue. Just my $0.02 worth.
45acp,
It really depends on what you want to use it for. The stainless guns still have the standard 3inch at 50yds. guarantee which is better than I can shoot anyway! You could always have it chrome plated, which is the way I went.
I retail the Baer and Wilson Guns. I only say that as a reference. The carbon (blue) steel either in blue, hard chrome or tefon coated (Bearcoat or Armor Tuff) out sell the full stainless guns about 20 to 1.
I am told and customers also say you get a much better fit out of a carbon steel frame and slide. Second best is a mix of either carbon slide and stainless lower or stainless upper and carbon steel lower
