Bad W209 Primers

I just had another FTF with a W209 primer. There was nothing wrong with the loading of the hull (a Winhester Hull in very good conditon with a CB knock off of a Win wad, a Win Primer, and recently purchased Promo powder all loaded per a published recipe). It wouldn't work in either the upper or lower barrel of my Citori. That is now 4 faiilures in less than 3,400 primers out of the same sleeve of 5,000. The lot number is EBL306. I tried calling Winchester about what gives and it closed for the day as I was on hold so I will call again tomorrow, but from all the responses I got to a similar thread a few weeks ago failures to fire are extremely rare.

There can be bad primers just like bad brass, bullets etc.
Actually that's a small percentage. My one experience with bad primers was 1 in 12 ! [excesssive pressure ] .

....you guys just caused me to spit coffee up thru my nose I was laughing so loud.......geez....

( scotch when you're reloading ....my word ....).. everybody knows its Bourbon.....:D

While rare it does happen. Over the years I've had more failures with Winchester primers and ammo than any other brand. Let us know what Winchester says when you get in touch with them. Their responses vary in my experience.

A. I have been very busy and unable to call Winchester, but will this coming week.

B. No FTF with reloading on Guinness Draft.
