Bad Report on Pro Mag Mags

I took a chance and ordered three Pro Mag mags for my Star 31P. I ordered them from Tom Forrest Inc. (www.gunmags.com). They came today. I inserted the first one into the gun with some effort and removed it with some difficulty. It didn't seem to fit very well. I inserted the second one and had to slap the bottom very strongly to get it in. When I tried to remove it, I found that it was thoroughly stuck about a quarter of an inch below the gun butt, i. e., the mag release button wasn't the problem. I did everything I could think of to pry this thing out. In the process the base of the mag began to bend. Before I could get it out I had to (1) remove the base plate of the mag and the inner parts, (2) remove the slide from the pistol, and (3) hit the mag body from the top. At last it came loose and was removed. I didn't see any need to try the third mag. Of course I am sending these pieces of crap back to Forrest. There were a number of physical irregularities and defects in the mags evident to the eye. These are the only mags I have ever bought that not only wouldn't work--they can't even be inserted into and removed from the pistol!

I have never heard anything good about Forrest INC. As for the Promags, I have some for a glock that are crap. I would never use them for anything but range mags.:barf:

I've had good success with Pro-Mags for a CZ, for a SIG 226, and for a S&W 669. I

n fact, my CZ Pro-Mags, except for some springs that got weak in about a year's time -- replaced with Wolfe extra powers -- have given me better service than several CZ factory mags. They don't come close to Mec-Gar mags, though...

I've had reasonable success with Forrest... but you've got to know what you're buying and don't expect to get any bargains... If the price seems to good to be true, it is.

I have very limited experience w/ Pro Mags. Tried them once in a 2nd gen G17. Seemed to work OK, but the mags weren't "drop free." Had the same problem recently w/ a couple of pro mags in a USP 45. Fed ok, but didn't drop free.

The Pro Mags that I got for my Glock 19 do not work! The action stays open after every shot. I'm glad I have plenty of good Glock Mmags.

:barf:

Had an experience with a Pro Mag for a Beretta 8045F Cougar (full size). It and the three replacements never worked properly, expereincing the full range of nastiness in non-functionality. I eventually got a full refind from Pro Mag (I had ordered and worked directly with Pro Mag), but nothing for the time and shipping involved.
