I just posted this on another forum but I guess I'm looking for all the sympathy I can get . The EXTREMELY liberal , ANTI GUN , pro criminals rights , pro welfare , pro illegal alien , candidate for governor has won . The anti gun attorney general has won . Also , as expected , Kennedy was re-elected . :barf: :barf: :barf:

playboypenguin - he hasn't done anything to reduce gun rights YET because he never held a political office before .

He's anti-gun. From Patrick's own web site:

Local chiefs Take Issue with Healey’s plan to eliminate their control of firearm licensing

BOSTON—Police chiefs from across Massachusetts today joined Deval Patrick and Martha Coakley in their support of continued local control of granting gun licenses, and opposing Kerry Healey’s plan for state control of the gun permit process.

Following this morning’s event the Massachusetts Chiefs of Police Association met and voted to endorse Deval Patrick for Governor, marking only the third time in the last 30 years that it has endorsed a candidate.

“Law enforcement professionals at the local level are the best protection against a gun being placed in the hands of an inappropriate person,” said Chief Wayne Sampson, commander of the Shrewsbury Police Department. “We know our communities and the people who reside there best, and we are adamantly against the state taking over this essential public safety function.”

The Lieutenant Governor recently accepted the endorsement of the Gun Owners Action League of Massachusetts after earning a 95 percent rating from the organization. After accepting the group’s support, Healey called for state control of the gun permitting process.

“These local chiefs know who the responsible gun owners are in their cities and towns, and they know the bad characters who shouldn’t get a gun permit,” Deval Patrick said. “Local control of gun permits isn’t broken and a Beacon Hill bureaucracy certainly won’t fix it.”

Joining the chief’s in their support of Patrick were Middlesex County District Attorney Martha Coakley and Paul Helmke, president of the Brady Campaign to End Gun Violence. Helmke, the former mayor of the Fort Wayne, Indiana police department also announced the Brady Campaign’s endorsement of Patrick at the morning press conference.

Here's another one:

LIMIT STRAW PURCHASERS We must limit gun purchases in Massachusetts to one firearm per month. Currently, criminals can too easily buy large quantities of weapons and resell them on our streets.

CLOSE THE LOOP HOLES IN GUN SALES We must work to ensure that private sellers such as those at gun shows are subjected to the same reviews and checks as licensed dealers.. More specifically, background checks should be required at gun shows and by private dealers alike.
