Bad luck with gun may bring charges

Laredo - A 26 y/o construction worker is recovering after accidentally
shooting himself in the testicles earlier this week.

Police said Genaro Hernandez was leaving his home on Victoria Street around
4 am Tuesday after having an argument with this wife.

Detective Greg Cantu said the victim had bundled up some clothing and
placed a .357 revolver in his waistband, preparing to go to his brother’s
home.

Hernandez had inadvertently cocked the gun. Once outside, the weapon
began to slip into his shorts. As he bent to catch it, the gun went off,
perforating a testicle and exiting his body. Hernandez indicated he had been
drinking at the time of the incident....

Police were especially disturbed to find that Hernandez had been storing the
weapon unsecured under his bed, despite having two young sons, ages 6 years
and 18 months, living at the home.

The wife said, “Oh, the kids never go in that room.”

Hernandez did not have a permit to carry a handgun. Cantu (the detective)
said Hernandez could be charged with unlawfully firing a weapon in the city
limits.

Mrs. Hernandez, at her husband’s bedside in Doctors Hospital noted the
family is now considering getting rid of the gun.
------

- Store your guns properly and safely - away from children and fools.
- Don’t fight with your wife.
- Don’t play with guns - ever! Especially not when drinking and fighting with
your wife.
- Be careful of going off half-cocked. Nobody has enough balls to do that
often! ;)

Dennis...thanks, been an otherwise crappy day and you gave me the best laugh so far.

Sam, follow me, I'm sure the road is right over that next ridge.

USE the gun to get rid of the husband. Then use the husband's angle grinder and the local lake to get rid of the gun. Voila, your kids are twice as safe.

:D Darwin effectively removed this one from the gene pool ... a little too late, 'cause he already had kids.

I once had a coworker tell me how she was scared of guns because they had one that just went off. Knowing that that just doesn't happened I asked a few questions.

Turns out that it "just went off" while they where showing it to some friends while "doing a little drinking", and killed their refridgerator. :)

The bad part was, she made her husband sell it immediatly, and he got rid of it for $250. It was a new Colt Delta Elite. Arrrghh, I wish I had known!

But further proof that guns and alcohol don't mix.

About prosecuting the guy, it seems a little redundant, what with the testicle problem and all, I figure he has served his sentance. :D

He's lucky he didn't... ;)
At least he had two of those. ;)

This story makes me cringe and laugh at the same time. Not many things that aren't belt-fed have that effect on me.

"Bad luck," you say?

"Negligence," sez me.

As for the bullet's trajectory... well, that just brings Rule 2 home in a rather, um, visceral (vas-ceral?) way.

BWAHAHAHAHHAHA

Hmmm, carrying around a revolver Mexican style w/o a permit? - Pretty "ballsy" - in fact, he USED TO clank when he walked. Not anymore....

San Antonio did it again. A park ranger was checking guns at the office and pulled the trigger and plugged himself.

I was surprised that the radio said he pulled the trigger. Usually, it just went off.

You're right Coinneach, there's a vas deferans between bad luck and just plain stupid negligence. At least in his case there is!
