Backyardin' again-.22 semi suggestions.

I see lots of interest in inexpensive .22's here. Any suggestions on another side by side, using .22's? Again. reactive targets are out, and the ranges are limited to 25 and 50 yards. Other than that, here's a list of what I can match up:

.22 Ciener Conversion on a Kimber

S&* 22s, with scope, Red Dot, and/or open sights.

Ruger .22/45

Ruger Mark II-slabside

Browning Buckmark(s)-Camper and Micro

Hi Standard Sport King

I see lots of requests for info and suggestions as far as a decent plinker/hiker type .22. I figure I got 'em, I shoot 'em, if it can help, so much more the better.

My thoughts are to simulate America's Favorite .22 target, that being the empty can, at 25 and 50 yards, by rolling up a sheet of paper to approximate an empty can and tacking it on the backstop. I know it isn't the same thing, but I have nowhere to shoot the real thing :(

Dillon's Precision offers "Dibold" targets that can be shot many, many times before neding to be replaced. You can set them as reactive or not. There would be no chance of ricochet as they are made of a plastic.

I think a benchrest, even a simple one, is essential to accuracy testing. I suggest shooting at the smallest possible target printed or marked on a 9" paper pie plate or 8.5"x11" sheet of paper.

Thanks for your efforts,

I have shot the Browining Buckmark a little bit, and I have shot the MrkII extensively. Both a very very good guns. They are roughly the same price, and I would recommend either one and feel confident that you would have a good experience with one of them.

Hi- Standard HD or HE, the only guns that ever beat the Colt Match Target .22 Woodsman. :) :) They shoot just as good or better but cost less. Just a silly opinion. :) :) Or just get a rifle and forget about the silly stuff and just hit the target. :)And Led is correct shoot off a rest first.

Thanks for the ideas. After reading back through some of the posts re: an inexpensive plinker , here's what I have in mind. I'll seperate them pretty much by price and do a comparison via a form of review, and just let the numbers speak for themselves. I'll use the MTM case gard rest this time instead of the Midway for a benchmark since it seems to work better for me when I need to do some serious "staple killing" ;) The range rules are very specific and strict. Paper targets only, any infraction and you lose your membership. Since this is the only facility within an hour and a half drive, I don't want to lose my membership. It sucks, but there isn't an option.

In keeping with the inexpensive plinker idea, I plan on using the Ruger 22/45 and the Buckmark Camper, and a *wildcard* thrown in for good measure ;) I paid the same for all of these, and they are all handy take a walk in the woods/go out and kill some cans/let a new shooter try a handgun types. All cost me $205.00 new, so pricewise they are equal, and have given reasonable accuracy and reliability with a wide range of ammo.
