Back in the CZ75 B Saddle!!!!!!

Well I guess its about time. I normally buy a CZ75 B every 2 or 3 years because I really want to own one but they tend not to fit my hand. I have smaller hands and more to the point short fingers. I keep them for 6 months or so then sell them because they don't fit me. I want to love them but can't commit long term. So they get sold and I am left loving on my P01 as the only CZ left in the stable. My sister in law took my PCR but that is a story for another time. :D

Well I found a CZ75B for sale local. LNIB by the look of it very few rounds down the pipe. Came with Hogue Finger groove grips, factory grips, 2 16 round mags, case and everything else it came with. This time I am going to keep it. Really. ;) The plan is to get a Reach Reduction Kit from Cajun Gun works. http://cajungunworks.com/miscellaneous_items.html Schmecky as he is known on the boards developed these after I sold my last one and I have been dying to try one. So when this gun appeared locally for a good price I took it.

The gun is 100% and I am not going to post pic of it because we all know what a stock CZ75B looks like. It is a polycoat gun nothing unique about it. I was happy to find that the trigger pull is pretty good in DA with limited camming and the SA was decent. It is not as nice as my custom BHPs which I shot next to it today but it cost stock out of the box for the price I paid I can't complain and it would not be a fair comparison .

Here is the best group of the day at 10 yards. Not too bad but it was shooting a little high for me. This was a 5 shot group first shot was DA the rest were SA. As many people experience the DA on the first shot was close to center. The SA shot depending on the speed with which I pull the trigger are close. These were not rapid fire but they were not a slow fire sight picture before each shot. I found the SA to be a little mushy but I think it will smooth out. My estimation is that this gun has seen less than 200 rounds before my ownership and only saw about 75 rounds today.

The gun felt great. Even more substantial in the hand then the BHPs. It simply soaks up the 9mm round. I think that the Cajun Gun Works short reach trigger will help with my accuracy. I think this one will stay.

I was unaware of CGW's 75 reduction kit. I'm wanting a 75 and this kit sure would make it fit me better no doubt.

Oh and check out the CZ p-09, it'll spoil you grip wise.

Until you get the reach kit, I have long fingers and will gladly shoot it for you and then send you pictures:rolleyes:

P.S. Please send 4 boxes of quality rounds and 10 targets with the gun!:p

You will need to give some thought about the CGW adustable sear and maybe the competition hammer (also available from the CZ Custom Shop). These two pieces change the sear hammer interface is a very productive way. With those added, you may find yourself arguing that some guns can as good as a 1911. (I've had trigger time with a couple of CZs that were exceptional in that regard... and while different from a well-turned 1911, quite crisp with a clean SA pull.)

Yeah some other "deals" have come up which are occupying my gun funds right now. The plan is to make this my last 75B.... :)

Have you tried the thin aluminum grips? I love the palm swells on the standard grips, but if you're having trouble with trigger reach, the thin grips might help. Also, they're very stylish.

Are your fingers still too short when you start off at the half cock notch? You may want to try that in DA until your short reach trigger parts show up from CGW.

CZ's fit me very well, but I do have large hands, and long fingers. Nice score!

Half cook notch helps but the CGW trigger will be what it really needs. It wears Houge rubber grips for now which I find better than the palmswells of the factory plastic.

I have been wanting a full-sized steel CZ75 (or nice clone thereof).

What do y'all think are average, good, and/or great prices for a used one?

The gun I am describing was $460 with 50 rounds of 9mm and the extra grips. It was a private transaction. the gun is LNIB if it had 100 rounds down the pipe I would be shocked. Came with box manual etc...

These days a 75B in LNIB under $475 OTD is a good deal. Price goes down from there based on condition and what it comes with. It is rare to see and even beat up one for less than $350 these days.

Here is a decent deal. no box no manual only one mag but the price is pretty good.

I have NEVER cared for the factory hard-plastic grips -- even the oldest Waffle pattern pre-B grips. The Hogues squeezed my fingers into positions they didn't want to be in (and I don't have an especially large hand...)

I found that the factory soft-rubber grips were a better fit/feel for me. I like the look of wood grips, but not the practicality (or lack of it, if they're really pretty and checkered...) I wish they made Navridex grips for CZs -- the seeming beauty of good wood with checkering, but with the durability of formica!! Oil or solvents don't affect htem (I have them on a BHP); I'd jump at a chance to get them for my 85 Combat.)

If you ever get a chance, try the factory soft rubber grips -- just by doing a hands on. They're not for everyone, but neither are the Hogues... :o

It's funny that you like the Hogue grip. I have small hands and the CZ 75 just barely fits, but fits really comfortably. I bought a set of Hogue wrap arounds for $10 or $15 at a local shop and put them on, and now the grips are too big for my hands. Can't even reach the slide stop lever with my right thumb anymore without breaking grip. They are comfortable otherwise, but I'm probably going to put the factory grips back on. One day I'll get around to making my own set.

I would not say I like them as much as I find them better than the factory plastic. ;)

The trigger job is really nice, I love mine, a P-01. I probably could have saved money though if I would have just bought straight from Cajun. Good quality work.
