I'm afraid your wife is mistaken, they are all different and beautiful in their own way. :D

I tried the baby eagle in .40. A friend owned one, I was very impressed. Accuracy was excellent, seriously excellent, in fact it was some of the best shooting I've done ever. Can't say group size, the targets where pepsi cans set on a fence. His was smooth, and the trigger was about equivelent to what I've seen on a Beretta 92.

He had only put about 500 rounds through it at the time, and to my knowledge there where no malfunctions. Durability I'm not sure of just because it hasn't been shot a whole lot.

I looked at a 9mm baby eagle today at the gun store, and the trigger on this one felt rougher than the other I had shot. Maybe a fluke, I don't know.

Hope this helps.

I just purchased one on www.auctionarms.com I won't be getting it until Thursday next week. I bought a NIB Chrome (highest durability?) 9mm Eagle. I was told that these pistols were sighted in by the factory at 30 meters and they are extremely accurate. (Baby Eagle is a politically correct name, they used to be called Jericho)

The dealer I am buying from has only a couple (one 9mm and one 40mm) of Chrome Eagles left. Allegedly, there were only 70 chrome Baby Eagles in 9mm and .40 S&W imported into the United States (the dealers e-mail is sf1958@gateway.net). He is asking $399.00 with only one 10 round mag.

If you search the archives you'll plenty pos posts on this fine pistol.

They're selling for bargain prices. Saw some in February, NIB with nightsights and two preban mags for $349.

Do you mean 70 nickeled Baby Eagles were imported?

This pistol has gone through more incarnations than a damned soul. It was first offered as the Jericho. Later Magnum Research began importation and called the Baby Eagle (to complement its line of Desert Eagle pistols). IMI branched out with Mossberg and thus Magnum Research dropped the Baby Eagle. The IMI/Mossberg short-lived partnership gave us the Uzi Baby Eagle, a horror that sports huge white letters on the slide, as if pistols were a pair of shoes worn by those desperate to have material things raise their self esteem and needed to advertise makes, but I digress. After IMI/Mossberg called it quits Magnum Research once again entered the scene and began importation of the pistols named again Baby Eagles. The pistols are cheaper now then in the past, however.

There are three main versions of this pistol. The original SA/DA requiring manual hammer drop and capable of cocked and locked carry like its progenitor the CZ. These pistols have a frame mounted safety. The SA/DA version with a hammer drop safety mounted on the slide. And a DAO slick side version.

In terms of models there’s the full size, full size grip with compact slide, and the compact model. Currently Magnum Research imports only the slide mounted safety versions.

As a happy owner of a Baby in 40,I can only say GOOD things about this pistol. It was picky about bullet shape until I had things polished up a little. Since then anything that fits in the mag, shoots! Found that the 41AE and TZ75 mags will work. I've gone thru about 150rd/wk since last Sept with no problems. I have the IMI/MR model with the frame mounted safety which allows cocked & locked. I'd say go for it.

Be careful what you ask for..You may get it.

Thanks guys on the info. I couldn't find anything in the archives, just posts pretaining to the Dessert Eagle and maybe a subline here and there. I probably will get it, I liked it :) Checked SGN and GL on prices didn't find any much better.

Happy Shooting :)

Tecolote, Thanks somehow I missed them.I missed the search button also so I was scrolling through via the archives. Your input has been very helpful. I remember reading some of the gunzine reports on these and they gave them a pretty good review. I bought the gun.Didn't get it to the range yet though. I figured I liked it,the price seemed fair and I want to help keep my local emporium open,it worked for me :) Thaks again :)

Happy Shooting :)

Glad to hear you got an Eagle/Jericho. I'm sure you'll get plenty of fun from it. If you're interested CDNN carries preban factory mags. If I remember correctly they sell for something like $45. You might want to check Shotgun News.

Rob, That was one of the reasons I bought it, If it's good enough for them, It's good enough for me.!
I might add that I've had this for quite awhile now and it has proven itself quite well ;) It was money well worth spent :)
