Baby Eagle Info, please...

Hi Folks,

A pistol really caught my eye last night. (Didn't have the money, so I didn't even handle it; sold a gun this morning, have money, will drool....:) ) It's marked Desert Eagle on the slide, it's compact with a steel frame, has frame mounted controls and is .40 caliber. Is the safety lever a safety only (like the CZ) or a decocker? I'm assuming this is a Baby Eagle...anyone more familiar with this gun than I am?
Brand new price 400., I can probably get it for 380. Seems like a good price, seems like nice pistol. Any help much appreciated!

thanks,

Mike M.

If I'm not mistaken, since that pistol is made by Israeli Military Industries (IMI), you couldn't go wrong with it. Priced at $400 or less?! Where are some more?

Baby Eagle

Mike, Can't totaly help you with the .40 but I do have a full size BE 9mm. and the safety is a decocker. I paid about $389. when I picked it up last year and IMHO is a real fine handgun. Shot real well out of the box. My local emporium is suppose to be getting some of the .40s in and I may be getting one, and the deal price was $389. So I think you may be getting a good deal at $380. ;)

I own a Baby Eagle .45. Paid $400 for it about one year ago. Solid, accurate pistol. Hates Blazer Ammo, though (Many light strikes).

Some don't like the decocker, but I do.

I have a Jerico which is the full size baby eagle. As mentioned above, very accurate and reliable outta the box. Call CDNN as in their latest flyer, they were advertising these in .40 for the low to mid 300.00 range. They have alot of extra mags to for less than 20 bucks.....

The Baby Eagle pistols are clones of the CZ-75 series of pistols, which are excellent in their own right.

The only disadvantage of the all-steel Baby Eagle pistols is that they are quite heavy (unloaded weight is about 38 ounces).

I purchased the compact model in the 9mm for my girlfriend. It's a truly excellent pistol. IMI has a shaped barrel as opposed to rifling. Super accurate. We both actually pefer the extra weight. She likes to shoot this one over her S&W .40 Sigma. I picked up some 13rd hi-caps from CDNN. Function perfectly. It's a CZ clone with improvements. Highly recommended.

Well I picked up a Baby Eagle semi compact 9mm with a full size grip and 3.7 inch barrel. The compact I'd originally seen was a little too small for my hand. My pistol has the frame mounted safety. Dealer had a factory 15 round mag.; got the pistol and extra mag for $450. (was wrong about price, $429. for pistol) Took it to range yesterday, shot 225 rounds of assorted ball (115&124 grain) and HP (115&147grain). Had 2 stovepipe jams within the first 30 rounds, after that, smooth sailing. Pistol is heavy, but easy to shoot, and VERY accurate. It was drizzling, didn't want to fool with paper targets; blue rock pieces, sticks and dirt clods disappeared!
Overall I'm very happy with my Eagle....Good stuff!

Baby Eagle .40

Mike, I looked at one yesterday and have it put aside for me. As I mentioned above I have the full size 9mm and love it. I had forgotten that I had looked at this gun before. The safety is just that and not a de-cocker.
The deal on this gun is $399. plus he has two extra mags for it at $30. each.
