Baby Eagle/CZ 75

It is _not_ a CZ. It is an Israeli made clone IIRC. Not bad for the price. Not as reliable as the CZ (or Glock, Beretta, SIG from what I hear) but good enough. The EAA guns are Italian made CZ clones, and the metalurgy isn't as good, so durability is not as good if you intend to shoot hot ammo and/or a lot of it for a long time.

The dealer price on real CZs is under $300, and you can get hicaps direct from CZ for $40, along with a nifty 22 conversion unit.

Why not get the original?

Tanfoglio (EAA Witness) makes the frames, slides and barrels and IMI manufacturers the innards and assembles the pistols in Israel. There are several threads going, search under Jericho, Baby Eagle and CZ.

Ah, that explains something. The EEAs are not as good as the CZs, so I doubt the IMI are much better?

I heard there had to be some arm twisting done to get IMI some contracts for those pistols with some Israeli security forces; most preferred the Glock and SIG due to their "better" performance record when used side by side.

I don't know about this business about of the Jerichos not being as good as a CZ. The IMI Jerichos that I fired were as reliable accurate and smooth as any CZ. In fact I prefer the Jeircho because of its full length frame, superior spur hammer design, and its ability to be carried locked with hammer down. As far as arm twisting, it only makes sense that a government would require its troops and police forces to issue what it produces. For civilians in Israel Glocks are more expensive than IMI pistols and SIG Sauers are VERY expensive. Most people frankly like the Jericho and the lower price simply seals the deal.

Tecolote, It may make sense for a country to use it's own, but the U.S. didn't. Personally I like the Witness guns. I've had four. The 45 acp I have now is one of the best. Reddog
