Dear Vote.com voter,

Log on to http://arizona.vote.com to tell state leaders if Arizona
should allow background checks of all gun sales.

Currently, cities and counties are not allowed to require private
dealers to conduct these checks. Some lawmakers are pushing for a
change in the law, saying that it is needed to keep guns out of the
wrong hands. Opponents argue that we don't need any more gun control
laws.

When you vote on this issue at http://arizona.vote.com we'll e-mail your
opinion to Gov. Jane Dee Hull and legislative leaders. Please make your
vote count, and ask your friends and family to vote too!

Sincerely,

Your friends at Vote.com

Just got a call from the Prez of http://www.brassroots.org .

He tells me that the Tucson City Council voted to require at least one FFL be at gunshows to conduct background checks for private sales. They assured the good gunnies of Tucson that this would not be a violation of ARS 13-3108 which bans cities from enacting ordinances concerning the sale of firearms.

Brassroots member Ken Rineer and president of FACT (Firearms Action Committee of Tucson) along with the only other pro-gun guy on the City Council, Councilman Rondstadt (yes, a relative of Linda) told them that the pointy heads on the council forgot about another Tucson ordinance that requires FFLs to keep second-hand firearms within their inventory for 15 days.

The Tucson City Attorney was said to remark that they didn't know anything about that.... minutes later the council voted for it anyway.

These guys are really smart, huh?

Don't you just love how deceptive these people are?:

Should The State Allow Cities And Counties To Require Background Checks For All Gun Sales?
Sounds like the state is somehow impeding a good cause, when in fact this is about consistent treatment throughout the state of a fundamental right.

PRO: Background checks should be required for every gun sold regardless of venue. It is up to the state government to make sure that guns don't end up in the hands of people who shouldn't have them. A background check is fair and should be mandatory.
Once again, the suggestion that gun shows are somehow special places where licensed dealers don't have to run background checks. Truth is, this is about non-dealers (i.e. private individuals) sell personal firearms. And, regardless of venue those are, and should remain, private transactions of private property.

CON: A background check is a complete violation of privacy rights. Some stranger who happens to be a gun dealer does not have the right to pry into the personal background of potential clients. Arizona should keep its nose out of other people's business.
This is perhaps the most outrageous statement of all. "... who happens to be a gun dealer ..."? According to whose definition? BATF reg's specify who is and who is not a gun dealer. If you're a 'dealer', then you need to be licensed, and you need to do the paperwork. It is extremely misleading to give the impression that gun 'dealers' do not have to run background checks at gun shows.

How do you know when an snti-self defense gun bigot is lying ... you know ... when his / her lips are moving.

Regards from AZ
