Australian Olympic Swimmers in Hot Water over Gun Photos

Apparently a couple of Australian Olympic swimmers training in the US had the temerity to pose with a couple of pistols and shotguns on Facebook. The Australian Olympic Committee, not surprisingly, got their panties in a wad, and demanded they remove them. Full story at:

The notion of gun ownership "norming" in the US is certainly not catching on elsewhere. This is one of the most important reasons we need to oppose UN efforts to "control" small arms.

The Olympics latest "new" sports are:

Monathalon, you just ski round a course & do looppy laps if you're too slow, no evil weapons allowed to make it less competetive.

Air pistol & rifle. Air as in "Air guitar" There is no guitar, pistol, or rifle involved & no "Target" as it might be threatning. You just point at a a flower picture & make "whoosh" noises, "BANG" being too militaristic, intimidating & likley to be confused with "Brandishing"

Australia has very tight restrictions on items which are far less controlled in comparable societies such as the UK. Air pistols, elsewhere unrestricted, are as difficult to get as center fire and rim fire handguns, and low-powered airguns are as difficult as cartridge arms to license. Airsoft guns are banned in all states and non-firing replicas banned in most.

It's too bad these swimmers didn't tell the Olympic officials to butt out of their private lives.

Thank our nation's founders for their foresight in establishing the right to keep and bear arms.

As a gesture of support we should all wear IIOC aproved speedos (& nothing else) to the range for the entire duration of the Olympics.:eek:

Yeah. Not going to happen. :p

And yet, the Aussie female shooter posing in a men's magazine with her gun was no big deal:

bit of a double standard?

ADDED: It seems that these links have now been removed...................a little censorship going on, they were up two days ago

From another site:
