In case you didn't know, Australia (at this point) does not totally ban all firearms, but the end is near! If this doesn't send a chill up your back (or the current goings on in our Country), then I don't know what will. This is just around the corner for us!
I just received this e-mail from a good friend of mine who is a gun dealer in Australia. This is the latest in his Governments quest to totally ban everything that propels a projectile.

SEPTEMBER UPDATE.
The major news breaking this month was the announcement by the Australian Minister for Justice & Customs, Senator Amanda Vanstone, on the 17th August 2000, said that there would be a ban on the importation of Handguns into this country, effective from midnight, 17th August 2000.
We have been privy to see & study the actual 24 page document, that the
Australian Customs Regulations are now working on, & although the Minister for Justice & Customs, maintains that all legitimate Licensed pistol shooters &
collectors could still import pistols, the amount of bureaucratic red tape you have to go through to import just one handgun, for a legitimate sport, is absolutely prohibitive. No one will put themselves through this hell. It is already far too hard with excessive
paperwork trying to import anything firearm related into this country. Coupled to that, the mandatory testing of all firearms by the Australian Federal Police, of all firearms, entering Australia, makes the whole process a nightmare. I can go on about this subject all day, & some of the true stories are absolutely mind boggling! I know of guns that are classed as Antique, & black powder, in any other country of the world, being blown up with nitro loads, at the hands of these people.
This new act, effectively, puts many, many, dealers & importers out of business
overnight. Dealers & Importers, can bring a maximum, of 10 handguns into the country at any one time, & these are only for display & demonstration purposes, & you cannot have more than one, of the same make & model. These pistols cannot be resold in
Australia. According to this new law, once the pistols are no longer needed for
demonstration purposes, they either have to be re exported, or handed in to the Police authorities for destruction.
Gone are the days, (overnight,), that a Licensed dealer or Importer could order
two or three hundred handguns, & have them on hand for sale to licensed pistol enthusiasts. Under the new laws, if anyone wanted a new pistol, there are now mountains of new forms to fill in, checks to be made & double checked, written authority off the Attorney General, (for each & every application), & the pistol, from the factory to the end user, is rigidly pegged to the end user's license number. Too bad if he didn't want it, after going to all the trouble of getting it, or wanted to change it for a different model!!
These Laws are supposed to stop the illegal importation of handguns!! I'd like to know how they intend to stop an already illegal trade, that criminals just don't go to the trouble of filling out import forms or go through all the legal channels etc, anyway, but still manage to get whatever they like!
This is a typical, bureaucratic bungle, to further get rid of all legal
guns out of Australia. The sad part about it is, all the law abiding people are still
paying the price, for the criminal actions of others. We are the ones paying the price for incompetent politicians, who couldn't run a chook raffle in a crowded pub on a Saturday
night!!
Another interesting little part of this new law, is a small paragraph on page 15, Where it says , & I quote :
"The importation of firearm parts, specified firearm accessories, firearm
magazines & AMMUNITION, & AMMUNITION PARTS, is prohibited without the written permission of the Federal Attorney General or the Police Authorities".
This is the one which could cause absolute devastation to our already Devastated gun community.
The only way to beat this stupidity is at the ballot box. Put every sitting
Member last, & One Nation, or an independent, or small party that is pro Gun first.
Do not give them your primary vote. For every primary vote you give them, they take $1.60, out of the tax payers money, to further beat you about the head, with their stifling
laws, rules & regulations, while the criminal element of our society goes away scott free.
Please pass this email onto as many gun owners as possible. We need to fight this gross imposition on fair trade. If we don't, soon there will be nothing left. Lyn, I, & the staff, wish everyone good health, wealth & happiness, & a change for the better in the Gun Laws !!
******************************
I don't know about you, but I see this very same thing happening today in this country... It is the Frog in the pot of boiling water.
If we don't see it now...it is too late. I will continue to fight this same insane crap the bureaucrats are shoving down our throats in the U.S.A. until the day I die... I pray for our good brothers in arms in Australia.
