Just got some of Cor-Bon's discontinued hot & spicy .41 Mag hardcast SWC hunting loads.

Can't remember the grain weight and claimed velocity. I seem to recall that they were two-hundred-and-a-lot grains at one-thousand-and-a-bunch fps. Can you verify?

(Just got lendringser's "PC57" to shoot 'em in, too... ;) )

I seem to recall a bullet weight of 265gr. on the box flap, and 1000-odd foot-pounds. Don't know the exact speed at which that bullet is zipping along, regrettably.

Well, yeah...

...I had that whole "fuzzy recollection" thing going on, too, then I remembered that Mssr. Murbach works there and all... ;)

I seem to recall that they made large numbers on the boxflap, filled the chambers all the way, were rather scary, and made the indoor range vibrate when you capped off a couple. :D

Mabbieish....
41 Magnum....250gr HardCast...1325fps/975ft/lbs CB4125HC/20 ?

Sam...loud is good, LOUD is more gooder.

MISS TAMARA,

There have been two CORBON 41MAG heavy bullet loads, a 265gr LFN and a 250gr LFN, both loaded at 1325FPS.
The original load was the 41-265 which carried 1033FPE at the 1325 velocity [ the current 41-250 load has 975FPE ]. This is/was a great 41mag load that really delivered the goods bigtime. Unfortuneatly it was too long to fit that Taurus 41MAG snubbie they brought out a few years ago. So, in a fit of stupidity I fought tooth and toenail, the powers-that-be here dropped the 265 and went with a 250 that would fit the Taurus 41MAG snubbie.
Now please understand, there ain't nuttin wrong with the 41-250 load, it is just that the 41-265 was indeed a good bit more of a good thing.
It will be interesting to see how our 41MAG heavy bullet loads shoot in your M57, Tamara. Truth be told most S+W 41MAG sixguns don't shoot all that well with 41MAG heavy bullets. My 4" hates 'em with a day-glo purple passion, my 6" is so-so, the 8 3/8" M657 I usta have loved 'em big time.
And so it goes...

Thank you, Terry.

Yes, these are the 265's, as they barely fit in my N-frame... :D (I'll bet they've got penetration to spare!)

YOU ARE WELCOME, MA'AM.

Truth be told when I saw my name come up at the front of this, or whatever you call it, I sat here wondering whatinell I'd done now and whether I should click on it. Must have been 15 minutes before I screwed up my courage and said what the hell, you been yelled at before by ex-wives, [ you're not one of those are you...I have trouble keeping track...] lawyers, shot at and missed by nere-do-wells, hit twice by the better shooters, been run over by a car, piled up my truck [ good for a month in the hospital ] and I'd lived through it all...

shucks, all she can do is yell at me...

I'll bet it's for my bad language earlier on TFL about the stolen guns...

I'll bet my Momma is gonna reach across time and space and slap me for my big mouth and she picked this here gal to do it...

Wheeeeew....it wasn't as bad as expected, Ma'am

HEH HEH HEH...to mis-use Robt. Burns - "What a gift the gifty gae us, to see oursels as others see us" - Terry, you are of a kind, and priceless

Tamara-

Saw your Kipling/Tommy quote: you may be interested to know that a new version of the film/book, "The Four Feathers" is being released soon; I think Sept. 20. Been seeing TV ads.

If you're interested in what Tommy Atkins faced in the field in those days (1882, I think), it should be worth a look. It involved campaigning in the Sudan, probably against the Mahdi. Been awhile since I saw the version from maybe 1939.

Heath Ledger is in it, so you guys who see this can probably get your wives and girlfriends to go with you without the usual bleating about your just wanting to see another war movie. The ladies can also admire the Victorian fashions and manners in the scenes set in London before the troops leave.

I'm going, in part to see which guns they employ, especially the officers, who would have bought their own revolvers in that time frame.

Lone Star

This will be the third variation of the Feathers film the second being made not very many years ago at all. I've enjoyed both several times and hope that don't ruin it for the new one.

ONe thing about the Corbon ammunition is that their velocity advetisement is right in line with what you actually get. Most rounds I've tried have actually been going a bit faster than they claim.
