I just got back from a wonderful 2 days and evenings duck hunting up in Butte County, No. Cal.
The only downer was a goose that was solidly hit by 3 1/2" steel BBB's and flew off into the distance. My friend who shot was pretty distressed about it, and cursed the steel shot requirements.
I myself noticed that some ducks were taking 2 hits before dropping. I was using 3" steel BB's - which should be plenty at the ranges we were shooting at. I should also mention that we took the time to pattern all our guns at the Richmond Rod and Gun Club range.
Anyway, has anyone used Hevi-shot? It looks expensive at approx $1.70 a round, but if it hits heavier than LEAD, then it's worth it to me.
Thanks,
Bowser.
