Got this in an email today. How true it is :evil

"Texas"

I was driving through downtown San Antonio
with my boss when we passed a sign reading
"Museum of Texas Culture."

"Huh. That ought to take about ten minutes
to see,' I scoffed.

Without missing a beat my boss replied,

"Why in heaven's name would you want to
go through twice?"

*Kevinw hides before anyone can draw down on him.*

Jealousy. Pure jealousy.

Tell ya what, Texas doesn't need a museum for culture. We're livin' it (and sometimes drinkin' it!) :D

Apparently there was a misunderstanding. Ten minutes is about how long it would take to go through the parkinglot twice.

You Texan wannabes can help out with this too!

MCKINNEY CITY COUNCIL

The City of McKinney continues to consider a draft ordinance which threatens the
continued operation of the Collin County Gun Range. Please visit http://www.ccgunrange.com/alert.html for the latest update.

FORT WORTH CITY COUNCIL

The full Fort Worth City Council will hear testimony and vote on the issue of
leasing city owned facilities for gun shows. This meeting will be held at
1000 Throckmorton in Ft. Worth on Tuesday, August 8 at 7pm. This is a public
meeting and your attendance is urged. Both sides of this issue have strong
feelings. Please be polite and respectful of the governmental process. Letters,
e-mail and calls are important particularly if you are from Ft. Worth, Tarrant
County, or have specific business at Ft. Worth gun shows. If you are a
resident of the city, please write, email or call to your City Councilman and
include your name, address and phone number.

This lets the City Council know that it's their constituents that are contacting
them, the people that THEY work for.

For instance the three councilmen who want to ban gun shows are Wendy Davis,
Ralph McCloud, and Becky Haskins. They believe they are representing the best
interests and the wishes of their constituents.

If you are their constituent, they need to know. Please pass this on.

It's important.

Y'all not from 'round here, are ya?

Just passing thru? (Pause)

Y'all come back next winter now, ya hear? ;)

nralife,

If the McKinney City Council is willing to permit non-residents to have a say in destroying a family business, would the council also recognize that the eyes of Texas are upon them if we deluged them with e-mails?

If so, let's git it on!

Spread the word to other boards and lock up the council's emailboxes with polite indications of OUR support for the Collin County Gun Range.
-----

If only "in person" non-residents' opinions are acceptable, ask whether some 6,000 TFLers should show up for their next meeting.

Ok Ok Sorry Jedi Oomodo you are right. 5 Minutes would be way to much time. maybe 3 would be more like it.. Ahh hell lets face it. You can' build a museum to something that doesnt' exist.

Kevinw,
I'll bet you also enjoy poking a stick in a fire ant mound or throwing rocks at a hornets nest. I guess you just like to live dangerously. ;)

Well, considering that Texas is the only state which fought for its own freedom, and was for a while a country in its own right...I guess that if we have a "culture", it's that of standing on our own hind legs and taking responsibility for our own fates.

Of course, the influx of those from places like the Rust Belt to our Buckle of the Sun Belt has the blood running thinner than we natives might like, but there's hope for the lil critters--at least, those who survive.

But, don't worry, guys. Just remember that some folks like to make jokes so they can pretend they're the equal of their natural betters. It relieves their insecurity--until they go to lookin' in a mirror...

"First He lit the sunshine, then he made the waters deep.

Then He gave us moonlight for all the world to see.

Well everybody knows that the Lord works in mysterious ways...

He took a rest, and then on the very next day:

God blessed Texas
with His own hand,
Brought down angels from the Promised Land;
Gave 'em place where they could dance,
If you wanna see heaven brother,
here's your chance!"

[closing cover to FIRE switch and removing missile key]
With my finger scant millimeters from unleashing proton-torpedo death upon the hapless Yankee, I realized that this is what he wanted. No, I will not give him the satisfaction. Sorry, CMOS. He lives.

If this thread was meant to be tongue in cheek, Mr W, that's all fine and dandy. Perhaps in the future you should make humurous intent more obvious (that's what that odious :D is for). By the tone of your posts, you come across as taking a deliberate swipe at us Texans. In which case, this topic is not in the spirit of TFL- "Take the high road" and all that. If you are purposely "stirring the pot", this does nothing to promote unity among the RKBA brother/sister-hood. You might want to check this out.

Again, I realize this could (and probably is) all meant in jest. Us Texans are used to Yankee condescension, and we remain indifferent. Y'all are no more than a fly on a cow's behind in the pasture of life (with apologies to my preacher! :) ).

Jedi, and everyone else. I have stated many times before that I love texas. I am a Hoosier to the core but if I had to move it would be texas or Vermont. Only thing I don't like about Texas is the heat. Sorry but I like it cold guys.

THe post was meant as a joke. Thought you all knew that :)
