Attention Smiths Winchester Updates Receivers (or Downdates as the Case May Be)

Pulled apart a new Win 70 325 WSM today. The receivers are no longer undercut and the threads are finer. Be warned, you cant use an older factory barrel on a new 70, nor an older prefit

Charlie Shaner, deceased, was a friend of mine and a fine rifle-smith. He called me over and showed me a new (post 64) model 70 marked 243 Winchester with the Winchester proof stamped! Problem; NO CHAMBER cut!!!:confused: :eek:
Since then, though I feel the Mod. 70 action is great I've steered clear of Winchesters!
Also, my late son had a 70 in .264 Winchester and it wouldn't shoot, I never saw a more crooked bbl after we put a Douglas on it when in the late it was out O.D. asnd I.D.????
