Atom Broadhead

I'm new to posting here on TFL but not new to reading.

I wanted to reach out and see how many other bow hunters there are on TFL. I have recently discovered a new broadhead (new to me) called the Atom Broadhead and I was wondering if anyone else aside from me used it.

Its a little radical in its design but I've had nothing but stellar results with it. I'll post some pictures for you guys to get a look at it.

Looks a bit top heavy. How does it do in cross winds?
So is the theory that the blades will bend when they hit a bone rather than deflect? If they flew right, I might take a shot at a deer with one but not an elk. So far, though, my Exodus broadheads seem to get the job done ok, so I'm not really looking around.

Looks like it does a nice job. But I think I will stick with Slick Trick heads.

I agree. Problem was with penetration back then because of the slower recurve bows used and the serpentine shape. The "Atom" does not have the serpentine shape to the blades and thus probably has less drag when hitting flesh.

I'm not going to muddy the waters by telling what I shoot, but they are fixed, vintage, I have over 200 of 'em, and see no point (pun intended) in changing.

But, archery has evolved into a tech sport, and if they are working/grouping for you, have at it. That, by the way, was a nice shot in the pic.

The Atom is a 100gr head, and they fly just like field points. No tuning of the bow to the broad head is required. So far, I have had complete penetration on everything I've shot with them. 2 doe, 3 hogs and 1 buck. The nice thing about the razor wire is that you don't have to resharpen it. I have one head that I've killed 3 animals with. Just pull it from the dirt after the pass through and rinse it off. Good to go again.

Looks like gimmicky junk to me. My nephews hunting buddy lost an elk because he was using one of those gimmicky broad heads and we did not find it. If he had used a good broadhead we would have found the animal.

I was skeptical of the not-really-sharp blades, but if it works, it works. I did read some reviews on the Atom that the trailing blades break a lot / easily.

I'll stick with VPA Terminators and Red Feather Phoenix though - the best there is.

I did shoot a fawn last year with an FAA Toxic however, and that deer died very quickly - it was devastating.

I still use my old stash of Thunderhead 125's from 20 years ago.
