In their Sunday evening newscast, Fox5, a TV station in Atlanta, brought up the just-issued pardon of a former airline pilot who lives in Conyers, Georgia (just east of Atlanta).

In their TV newscast, the reporter mentioned several things that Prouse can now do, including own a firearm.
I think it's significant that at least some in the media are implicitly reminding people that felons can't legally possess guns. Hopefully a few fence sitters and maybe even some weak antis will think about this the next time new screams of "gun control" are heard across the nation.
(OK, OK, maybe the station didn't realize that was the message that might be sent out and would have re-written the story if that possibility had occurred to them....)

Conyers Pilot Gets Presidential Pardon
A retired Northwest Airlines pilot is one of the 140 people who received a pardon from President Clinton before he left
office. Today, Norman Lyle Prouse says he can't believe it. In a highly publicized case, Prouse was convicted of flying a commerical airliner while intoxicated eleven years ago. Prouse paid his debt to society, and was rehired by Northwest, where he eventually earned back his captain's wings. He retired in 19-98 at age sixty, and now lives in Conyers. (01/21/01 17:56)
