ATI 1911 Officers model hanging up

New ATI 1911 short barrel won't cycle without the round hanging in the throat. What can be done to fix the issue?

What kind of ammo? Tried more than one kind? New tight gun might have issues with one brand or type, until it loosens up, or may not ever like one kind too well. Otherwise if you don't feel it is ammo or lubrication issue, do like the man said.

I agree that sending it back is a wise and sensible solution. If you monkey with it,you probably lose that option under warranty.

I certainly do not have enough information to diagnose the problem. For your first few hundred rounds, choose 230 gr full jacketed hardball ammo, factory loads. The Walmart Winchester is cheap and just fine.
Its best to strip it,clean it,and lube it before you shoot it.If stripping it is a challenge at this point,at least lube it.There are many preferred lubes and theories. At this point, CLP or any gun oil.a couple drops in each slide ways,a drop under the slide where the hammer rubs,if it has a guide rod, give that a drop, and, slide back,a dropon the barrel od.Cycle it a few times. It will be a little sloppy, blot it with a paper towel but don't wipe it dry. Lay it down ejport up.Put a drop on the end of the slide stop pin and just leave it on its side a minute, then cycle it.This will do for some break in.Its not the lube routine you should learn and practice, but I'm assuming you don't want to search for flying recoil spring plug at this point.

If you are going to own a 1911,its good to understand them some.
The extractor is important to cycling. The cartridge must feed up from the magazine...the rim has to slip under the extractor hook ,and the case head has to slide smoothly up the bolt face. The extractor is also a spring, which must hold the cartridge case to the bolt face for proper ejection.
Why am Itelling you this? Its common for new guns that receive no hand fitting when they are built to need a little extractor massage. Its not real hard, but it needs to be done right.I'm not telling you to fix it,just understand these minor issues will be there, and they can be sorted out..Your gun is not a lemon.
Note,it is an act of extractor abuse to put a round in the chamber and drop the slide on it.Don't.Feed up from the magazine, always.

Another issue can be the magazine.Get at least one quality magazine. Wilson,Brown,McCormick,Tripp, etc. Try it

Make another trip to the range with about 200 rounds.Watch to make sure the slide is fully forward each shot, then see if it will run with a few hickups.

After 200 or 300 rounds,it ought to be running pretty well.
