ATF trouble?

I have a quick question about purchasing and giving a rifle as a gift to a family member.

Is it illegal to purchase a rifle and than give it to a family member as a gift?

The family member has 0 conviction's.
Lives in the same state.
And is a legal resident.

Am I missing anything else?

If it is illegal to buy a firearm for the reason to giving it to a family member as a gift that is bs and the ATF and all the liberal gun haters can kiss my @$$.

If they're in your immediate family, I think it's legal in pretty much every state.

You may be able to buy it for another family members, but they'd possibly have to go through a background check.

jibjab got it right,

I'm a liberal and as long as I have more guns than you, I'm happy. As long as the giver and receiver live in simi-reasonalble states I think all is fine. I don't even think the relative has to live in the same state as the giver... since it is a long gun.

As long as you use your own money to purchase the gun you can buy it for the purpose of gifting it to anybody you choose.

Relative, friend or stranger

For conformation look on the back of the 4473 that you will fill out and sign before buying the gun.

When you come to the portion on the test that ask you if you are the actual purchaser of the firearm there will be instructions that refer you to a section on the back that explains this in detail

State laws may vary
