Here is the message they sent back to me.
Dear Mr. Hsia,
We are responding to your concerns regarding a perception on AT&T's
position regarding the running of a NRA ad and AT&T's advertising
strategy.
AT&T is in the business of selling high-quality communications and
information services to our customers. We do not formulate public
policy or promote specific political agendas, nor do we promote the
interests of any particular group or community. AT&T's customer base,
like society, is very diverse and our services are offered to everyone,
without discrimination.
We strive to foster an atmosphere of respect for responsible opinions
and views of all kinds, crossing the full spectrum of beliefs and
issues, and promoting an environment that enhances creativity and
innovation to better serve our customers. Our only agenda is a people
agenda, which values and respects everyone. We believe this is in the
best interests of AT&T, our employees, our customers and our
shareholders.
AT&T does not support programs that have a position either for or
against gun control.
For competitive reasons, AT&T does not comment or speculate publicly on
our advertising strategy. We do however have guidelines that we use in
deciding AT&T's advertising policy.
Those guidelines include collecting and tracking input such as yours.
We encourage you to continue sharing your opinions with us.
I want to assure you that AT&T appreciates hearing your concerns and
hope that you will consider AT&T for your future telecommunications
needs.
