Just wanted to rave!

Today I was able to shoot my new-to-me Astra snub. On had time to shoot off 12 rounds at the end of an IPSC training session, but I must say, I love that little thing. It was loaded with 147gr WCs and at about 7-8 yards it was beautifully accurate and the trigger is SWEEEEEEEEEEET!!

SA is smooth as silk, compared with others in my gun cabinet and DA was also very smooth!! So pleased I bought it, and for a song, on top of that!!

Also, even with my home bodged oak mini grips, it was very comfortable to shoot!! More WCs will be heading the same way soon (and I kept the brass!)

Happy ex-pat in Estonia tonight!!!
:D

OK... I feel better now: thanks for indulging me!

That's one forking nice looking gun.:D

It's all about fuction, as long as it work's good, those 147g WC's should serve you well.

Very nice revolver. I shot an Astra Convertible meny years ago and would have bought it save it did not have both cylinders.

First chink in the armour!!

In total I have now fired a whol 24 shots from my little Astra, and perhaps 200 dryfires and everything has worked fine. Except for those last shots #18 to #24!

I loaded the WCs into the cylinder, went to cock it for a SA shot and the hammer would only come back abouthalf way and the cylinder would only rotate a fraction of the way to the next round. I tried DA. Same thing.

I opened the cylinder and closed it again and then all was well.

A little disconcerting in a gun I'd been planning to use as my occassional CCW.

I'll open it up and see if anything is clearly amiss. I hope it was a one-off...

This may sound silly, but when you close the cylinder do you rotate it a little to make sure it's in lock-up? It could be something as simple as a piece of trash or lint kept it from locking up. When you opened the cylinder it knocked it out. Good luck with it, about all you can do is to keep on keeping on(shoot it some more).

Yup, clean it good.

I had a tiny bit of trash once, that fell into the interior of my Taurus 605, through the space in front of the cocked hammer. (Sound unusual? It was my fault, basically.) Sometimes I could cock the gun, sometimes not. I ultimately had to take off the sideplate to get it out. That was a learning experience, and the sole functional problem I've had with it yet.

Yeah, I think it was a one off.

It happened on the first trigger pull after closing the cylinder on a reload, then disappeared once I'd opened it and reclosed it again!

I'll still take a peek inside when I get half an hour.

I had a similar event with a S&W 547. It would bind every few rounds, so we cocked the hammer and blew air down the front and back of the hammer and the issue never recurred!
