I've been saving $ for the past 3 months and finally have enough for the Beretta 92G Elite II ($660 out the door.) However, when I went in yesterday to plunk down my deposit, I made the mistake of looking in the used case. And there she was .... a Sig P226 9mm in mint condition for $529. In short, what would you fellas and ladies do? Both great prices and excellent pistols. I'm completely torn between the two.... thanks for any help.

I'm really not the most objective person since I'm a certified Beretta fan, but I think you'd really appreciate the Elite II. Mine is one smooth piece of engineering. Retracting the slide on an Elite or Elite II is all you'll need to do to convince yourself of the exactness of the manufacturing and of the quality control.

The DA trigger pull is the best I've felt on a production DA/SA semi-auto. My Elite and Elite II have been absolutely reliable, 11,000+ and 4000+ rounds. The more I shoot my Beretta pistols, the more I understand that reliability and quality doesn't just happen.

In the final thought, buy whatever fits your hand better and you feel will give you the highest quality and most reliable service. All else is opinion. My Beretta collection has grown extensively over the years, so I guess I gave you my opinion... ;)

Let us know what you decide...

Sig! Don't get me wrong the Beretta is a fine gun, but I personally shoot my 226 a whole lot better than any of the Beretta's I've ever shot.
All that aside, keep in mind that I don't have any experience with the EliteII.

Does the SIG come with Full Capacity mags ?

I personally would go SIG, but that is only a personal choice as I own a Beretta 92FS (actually it`s the Special Edition M-9)and I am totally confident in its performance.
I`m sure the Elite II is even better yet, so it only goes to my personal preference for the SIG 226.

Greetings All; You have a difficult decision; but I will try to help? In
my humbled opinion, I would have to go
for the Sig-Sauer P226. It took me two
years to locate one, here in central
Alabama; while Beretta's were plentiful.
In the P226 you would have one helle'va
combat firearm!!! :D Mine is two-tone with
factory SigLite night sight's. :)

It's a win-win choice. But I'd probably go with the Elite II. The 9mm P226 isn't exactly common, but (in my area), it'd be easier to find another P226 than another Elite II. Of course, the ultimate goal is to get both! :)

I'd go with the Beretta, simply because SIG's don't feel very comfortable in my hand, and "pointability" is reduced. I'd say, go with the one that fits YOUR hand better, and points more naturally. (Of course, I REALLY prefer a Browning HP, but that's not one of the options you listed.)

You could get the SIG and buy ammo with the money you had left. Or, you could buy the SIG and use the money you had left as a lay-a-way deposit on the Beretta! I really like that idea because you end up with both pistols that way!

Like the others have said, no wrong choice here. But IMO, the SIG feels much better in my hands. I owned both @ one time (std. 92fs ss), but ended up only keeping the 226. Anyways, go with what feels better for "YOU", that will be the "RIGHT" choice. Good luck.

I would personally go with the Beretta. My SIG 226 feels better in my hand but I shoot my Border Marshal one Hell of a lot better. YMMV

dude it works this way i am a beretta fan end of story I already own two I am going into the police acadamy and I will most likely pick up a sig for a duty weapon simply put the sig is inherently more accurate. that doesn't mean one can shoot it anymore accurately

every shooter and every gun is different.

And the age old is true what feels better in the hand i have and elite I with double action trigger spring to match the elite II DA and it is a helluva lot better than the sig double action talk about smooth. But I like my beretta compact ss to shoot with just for pure enjoyment

you won't make a wrong decision either way but you will wonder ...... should I have brought that other one????

Like someone said you gotta get em both
