Asset Forfeiture and Congress

While this topic at first does not sound like it deals with firearms, let us remember there have been several cases where the BATF have seized firearms where there had been no crime committed.

BeCounted is taking a poll on your opinion of the Legislature pass ing a bill that restricts the ability of the fedgov, etal, to seize property without proof that the property seized was obtained from the results of criminal activities or was used during criminal activities. As it stands now, the person losing the property has to prove a negative.

I think reform has been a long time coming and is needed badly.

HR 1658, the House version of the bill is very important and valuable legislation. Most anything Janet Reno is opposed to has to have some virtue, Clinton opposes it too.

Get on to your U.S.Senators.
