Assembly of OLD Iver Johnson

Hello I just obtained an OLD Iver Johnson champion single shot shotgun. This model does not have the coil spring system it has a sort of leaf spring system. Any information that could be provided would help greatly. A friend tore it apart, has all the pieces but couldn't figure out how to get it back together correctly. Said I could have it he's done with it?!? So of course I took it and now need to get it back together!
Please help!

Are you referring to the forend retention or spring? Some pictures would surely help ....

Numrich arms is showing parts and listing a schematic that I could not access. Unless someone in here has one, suggest you contact them for assist. ..

It should be simple there's not much too it just don't want to start shoving things together and break a part. There's prolly a process with which pieces go 1st to make it easier.

I'll have to look at some pictures more to help. So give me a minute.

Okay, I think yours is a different model than mine. There's some sort of plate where mine is rounded and there is no recess for the hammer spring( that I can see).

You might just want to take it to a very knowledgeable gunsmith and get him to put it back together. Under no circumstances were these things to be disassembled unless something was awfully wrong, as cleaning just required an opening of the action. Other than that I really have no clue. Sorry. Good luck in getting it reassembled.
